FAQ's
FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS.
Q: How does the TOUR GREENS by Kenny Knox surface receive a shot?
A: Our greens receive shots as well as any real grass golf course green. If you have the ability to back a ball up, you'll love the TOUR GREENS by Kenny Knox, Inc. surface.
Q: Can I install my own green?
A: We do not sell putting green kits. We do all the work from start to finish.
Q: At what speed do the TOUR GREENS roll?
A: TOUR GREENS by Kenny Knox can be installed to roll at any speed desired. For best results, we recommend a "10" reading on the Stimpmeter.
Q: How much maintenance do TOUR GREENS surfaces require?
A: Very little. Keep putting surface free of debris. Brush with medium grade push broom to reduce speed. Roll with a water-filled sod roller to increase speed and to maintain smoothness.
Q: How does the TOUR GREENS product compare to those of other suppliers of synthetic putting greens?
A: Kenny Knox started his TOUR GREENS Company largely because he was dissatisfied with a synthetic green he had installed at his own home by one of the leading suppliers at that time. Kenny, believing the product could be made much better, researched and designed materials and installation techniques that significantly improved the quality of synthetic putting surfaces to the point that TOUR GREENS synthetic greens closely match the greens Kenny was familiar with from his days on the PGA Tour.
Q: Can synthetic greens be installed indoors as well as outdoors?
A: Yes, in fact, TOUR GREENS has built a 6,000 square foot indoor short game teaching complex in Annapolis, Maryland.
Q: What is the minimum area required to install a synthetic putting green?
A: The larger the putting area the more options you have to practice. However, TOUR GREENS putting surfaces can be practical even in limited spaces. TOUR GREENS of North Carolina would be pleased to provide a no obligation, no cost on site estimate.
Q: Are TOUR GREENS synthetic greens like the surfaces at miniature golf courses?
A: No. TOUR GREENS synthetic putting surfaces very closely simulate the same characteristics of greens on the best golf courses in the world.
Q: How long does it take to install a green?
A: Installation times vary depending on the size of the green and any options, such as sand traps, tee boxes, or chipping areas. Typical backyard installations take two to three days.
Q: I've heard other companies take as much as two weeks to install a green. How are you able to do a typical installation in two or three days?
A: Kenny's installation method makes use of expensive construction equipment and other equipment designed by Kenny to improve and speed up the installation process. This investment in professional grade equipment provides a better product in less time than other suppliers.
Q: Is it okay to chip and pitch onto the synthetic greens or are they just for putting?
A: TOUR GREENS synthetic putting surfaces are designed and built to perform like a conventional grass green.
